Honourable Mention for the 250-260 Gold Street project, created using Lea Ceramiche porcelain stoneware tiles.

Located in the heart of Brooklyn, this large multifamily residential building expresses luxury design through an elegant material palette and a variety of spatial experiences. The project received an Honourable Mention at Coverings 2022 as part of the 2022 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition in the Multifamily Residential category, a competition recognising some of the best architectural projects in North America using Italian ceramic tiles across five categories: Multifamily Residential, Single-Family Residential, Commercial, Institutional and Student.

The designers at StudioSC, responsible for the project, created a coherent visual identity throughout the residential complex. In particular, the slate-effect tiles from Lea Ceramiche’s Waterfall collection were used in the corridor, business centre and cellar. Waterfall is a porcelain stoneware collection that realistically reinterprets an ancient material such as slate, recreating the shifting effects typical of sedimentary stone on the surface. Textures, irregularities and chromatic variations evoke the marks left by time on the material. The grey base tones recall the natural transformations of stone, giving the spaces a refined and harmonious character.

For the spa area, warm wood-effect planks in the large 30x180 cm format from the Bio Select collection were used. The collection was created to reproduce the warmth and character of wooden flooring on ceramic surfaces with a natural and elegant look. Inspired by oak and walnut, two of the most prized wood species, the surfaces bring warmth, elegance and material quality to the spaces. High technical and aesthetic performance is combined with the antibacterial and hygienic action of Protect® technology, which uses silver ions incorporated into the tiles to eliminate up to 99.9% of bacteria, helping to keep floors and wall coverings protected and easy to manage. These are particularly valuable features for contemporary residential environments, where comfort, flexibility and practicality play a central role.

The designers appreciated the durability, performance, variety and elegance of the Italian brand’s collections, which enhance the spaces in a distinctive and original way, contributing to a warm and harmonious design.
