A place synonymous with innovation and research, which attracts thousands of surgeons from all over the world and hosts the most advanced technologies in the field of robotic surgery. The largest European training centre in the sector, Orsi Academy in Melle, Belgium was recently expanded with a new campus. The space, which is masterfully divided between operating rooms, meeting rooms, an auditorium, a restaurant and a foyer, has a rectangular plan and is characterised by matt and transparent façade elements that highlight and distinguish the different purposes of each area.

Starting from the requirements to reorganize the spaces, the VK Architects&Engineers firm, which designed the project, adhered to sustainability and healthiness criteria for both the development of the areas and the choice of materials. District by Lea Ceramiche was selected for the floor, a ceramic surface that evokes the contemporary style of concrete, but that is mainly characterised by antibacterial Protect® protection, a technology exclusively patented with the American giant Microban® that guarantees the elimination of 99% of bacteria 24 hours a day. Based on silver ions and incorporated during the production process, it is always active, even in the absence of light. District by Lea Ceramiche offers durable surfaces with excellent hygienic properties that are ideal for places where safety is of primary importance.

The District modules in the delicate Boulevard shade accentuate the brightness of the spaces and embrace the charm of the surrounding nature through the large windows. The multi-format installation layout, interspersed with the geometric patterns of the decoration, recreates a more domestic and welcoming environment in the social areas.
