Among the most recent international projects to choose Slimtech for its surfaces is Zala Zone in Hungary, a site hosting a research centre dedicated to electric vehicles and autonomous driving, where content and form come together in a coherent architectural concept. In May 2016, the Hungarian government launched the development of a vehicle testing track in Zalaegerszeg, with the aim of strengthening research and development in mobility and new technologies. Automotive Proving Ground Ltd. was established to manage and implement the activities connected with the project.

Within the site, the main building forms the central hub of the test track and serves as the entrance for visitors, housing spaces for public events, meeting rooms and offices. For the flooring, M-Teampannon Architecture and Engineering selected Slimtech Waterfall by Lea Ceramiche, a collection inspired by slate that realistically reproduces the shifting effects typical of sedimentary rock. In the Silver Flow colour, Waterfall recreates irregularities and subtle chromatic variations on the laminated porcelain stoneware surface, evoking the marks left by time on the material. The large 5.5 mm-thick slabs integrate seamlessly with the building’s architectural language, both formally and functionally.

Slimtech stands out for its lightness, versatility and high technical performance, characteristics that make it particularly suitable for contemporary architectural projects. It also features antibacterial properties thanks to PROTECT® technology, permanently integrated into the product during manufacturing, helping to maintain hygienic and protected surfaces, an especially important feature in areas with high volumes of people.
